Sorry Konstenlose (Living in Germany love the username LOL) His install instructions do say that:

"After unzipping the files you downloaded, open up config.php. You need to edit your database information to allow WebCards to connect to your MySQL database. You need to enter the database host, your username and password and the name of the database. Each table can also be given a prefix to prevent conflicts with other programs. You can change this from the default of wc_ if you wish."

So create a mysql database first, then enter its details into your config.php file.

"Error!

You have not entered your database information in config.php. Please do so now and re-upload the file."

You installation instructions don't mention we need to create a mysql database first. Do we have to do this?

Yes the templates are very complex. For the graphic side of things I use a template editor called artisteer. Probably no help to you but it would be the thing I would use to change the look of any templates.

http://www.artisteer.com
It might be worth checking out it is very cunning :-)

It's slow progress at the moment. Using the Wordpress database is relatively simple. It's using the Wordpress templates that is difficult. I will try to keep you up to date.

Just wondering what the latest is on Wordpress integration. Is this in the works or is using an iFrame plugin like Pageview the only solution?
thanks,

I'm not a great fan of I-frames. They are not all that SEO friendly as I understand it.
I'm also running WebCards off its own domain so I'd have to dismantle everything and pretty much start again and I would still have to try and match the templates. Ideally I'd like to hold off on the extreme stuff if there is any chance at all that you might have a true integrated solution.

While this won't help with the database integration, I have always found an easy way to integrate WebCards into an existing template is to run it inside an iframe. Simple but often quite effective.

Hey Chris:
Ideally I'd like to have Web cards running under a Wordpress install so I can easily add pages and have a blog all in one place and ideally styled by the same templates. So I guess that is both database and template. A tall order I know. Really, I'm looking for an integrated all in one solution be that Wordpress or Native WebCards so I can easily set up a site and then get on with creating cards:-)
I'm an Illustrator and Animator and having to learn web design to do this myself, though interesting, is taking way longer than I imagined.

Huge Regards
Dave

The problem occurs when you are trying to select more random images from the database than actually exist. Say, for example, you have 5 images in the database but try to select 6 random images then this error will occur.

As I said before I thought we had it sorted, but apparently not.

Glad your installation is working now though.

Hi - This fixed the problem when I added a few more images. I had 3 in there initially and I added another three. Still seems to be an issue but at least I know I can get around it.

Have you added any cards to your WebCards installation? There was previously a bug that was caused by trying to pull random images from an empty database. I was under the impression this was solved now.

Try adding about 6 and see if that makes a difference.

Hi - I've just purchased v2.6 and installed it. Everything seems to be operating OK in the admin side of things but when you try to simply go to the actual card index.php page it's blank. I had no problems with the free v1.3 that is on my web hosts auto installer, just this one.

Any ideas?

Cheers, Scott.

Hi Dave,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you on this. It seemed to get missed off my to follow-up list.

How exactly would you want them integrated? To run off the Wordpress template system? Share the user database? Or a combination of both of these?

The docs state:
'Upload all the files, including your edited config.php, to an appropriate folder on your server'
I'm not sure what that folder would be. I want to run web cards as it's own site so do I just upload the files to the main web site html folder?
