Your PHP files seem to be executed as plain text files. Do you have PHP installed? Do you know which version?

Feel free to email me chris.charltoln@gmail.com so you don't have to post too many details if you prefer.

Are you referring to the html templates? If so, then yes you will lose your modifications. It has been necessary to make some changes to the templates to ensure that some of the new features such as sending full card content and pay-per-card work correctly.

There aren't huge modifications and if you use a tool such as CSDiff you will see that there aren't many massive changes in each file. More tweaks really.

I will have a look at preparing a guide for migrating your templates to version 2.5.

Thanks a lot for your answer !

There's just one thing I haven't understood yet: as to the e-mail, even in my version I could change the text, but I couldn't change the appearance - can you do it with the actual version ?

Thank you for helping me !

The latest version is 2.4.

Unfortunately, all the template modifications willl be lost. But the way the templates work in the current version is still the same, so moving your templates shouldn't be too difficult.

There are no other language files available, but they will become available in time.

There is a lot more that is customisable in the new version. You can even change the name form "WebCard" to something of your own choice.

Emails can be personalised. All email text is in the language files. You can also send html emails.

1.x versions are not supported. They were released under a different licence, and are no longer developed.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hallo everybody,

I just installed webcards - I supposed it was the latest version, as it was directly proposed by my server cyon.ch...well, I was wrong :(. The code says I have 1.3.

As I have already worked quite a lot on it (design, translations, links to my homepage...), I have to decide wether I upgrade or not. Would you be so kind and help me with some questions ?

- I suppose that everything I personalized will be lost on upgrade ?

- Is there other languages in the new version ?

- I suppose editing will be easier, but can I edit more things or less things with the new version ?

- Can emails be personalized as to the design too (not only language) ?

- Corryboy told me my version is no longer supported, what does that mean concretely ?

I'm sorry I have so many questions - if anybody can answer to ONE of it, i'll be grateful !!!

Of course, how logical! Thank you so much Corbyboy! I had purchased version 2,and had not installed it yet. Version 2.1 came out right after that, so I was confused. This makes perfect sense.

I can't wait to try the program. I hope you have a wonderful week!!!

Don't feel embarassed about asking questions. I am here to help whenever you need it.

There are two types of installation:

1. Clean installation from scratch. This is what you should do if you don't already have WebCards installed.
What you need to do is upload all the files in the zip archive to the appropriate folder. You then need to run the file installation.php

2. An upgrade installation. If you have a previous version of WebCards you need to upgrade to the current version. To do this upload all the files in the zip file except config.php. Then run the file upgrade.php. If yyou are doing an upgrade there is no need to run install.php.

If you are still having trouble please let me know if you already have WebCards installed and I can guide you from there.

I'm embarrased to ask, because it will show how totatlly ignorant I am about installing programs, but, I guess it would be even more stupid not to ask, so please bear with me...

I don't understand the installation instructions...

Upgrading Instructions
----------------------

1. Upload all the files contained in the archive BUT NOT config.php.
2. Run upgrade.php
3. Check your settings are still OK
4. DELETE upgrade.php

My Questions: Version 2.1 upgrade has all the files I need. I don't need to upload version 2 first to the server? Which settings do I check?

Installation Instructions
-------------------------

1. Edit config.php with the appropriate MySQL access information
2. Upload all the files and folders BUT NOT upgrade.php
3. Run install.php
4. Delete install.php

My Questions: If the files have already been uploaded to the server, what does it mean to upload them again?

Again, please sorry to ask such a dumb question. You are helping an old lady here, and I appreciate your patience very much!!! :)

No there isn't.

A decision was made a while ago that it would be too time consuming to create an upgrader from 1.3 to 2.0. They are almost entirely different pieces of software and the databases are simply unrecognisable from each other.

With the bulk upload feature moving your images over shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Perhaps now that version 2 is released I may have time to work on a convertor, but I can't promise.
