I have a ecards site that has about 1,000 cards on it.

would it be fairly easy to buy and install mywebcards into a /test directory and get all of the cards and content ready to go before taking it "live" on the real domain?

I am wondering specifically if the files could be moved to the live location and then the path(s) in mywebcards could be easily changed to get the site "live?"

    Thanks,

    Brad

I think this is pretty easy...you can change the path via admin cp and can also change it (and the domain) in the database table wc_setting via phpmyadmin (or whatever your software uses)

I'll wait for corbyboy to confirm but I *think* this is all you need to do.

Yes this would be no problem.

You could set up parallel installations, and simply change the paths in your database when you are ready to go live.

so run an sql statement(s) in phpMyAdmin when you were ready to go "live" - is that what you are saying?

    Thanks,

How you do it depends on what the differences between your production version and your public version are.

If you just want them to reside in a different directory while you are testing, you can simply move the files over and update the folder path in the database settings when you are ready to go into production version.

I think this is what you are trying to do. Am I correct?

Yes, I am just trying to install mywebcards into a domainroot/test directory and then, after getting it ready to take "live", move it all into the top level of the domain "domainroot."

    Thanks,

    Brad

Not a problem, just move the files and update 2 settings in the database.
