Can't believe it. They just told me that while PHP runs on its hosting accounts, they can't accommodate MySQL.
They say the only way they could do it for me is if I linked to another Web site.
Any ideas?

Get another webhost. Seriously, if they don't support MySQL don't waste your time with them. They are greate for registering domains, but not so good for hosting.
Are you paying them to upload your website for you? Perhaps we could could to an arrangement for me to do it for you. Email me and we can sort something out.
As for the suggestion of linking to another website, they want you to pay to host a website elsewhere because their hosting is in sufficient. What nonsense.
I'm beginning to think I made a huge mistake by going with them.
They're building the site for me, based on a mock-up I gave them. (I think I told you I'm a whiz at Word. Didn't tell you my resume includes writing stints at Us magazine and The New York Daily News.)
Fortuitously, I at least only took the six-month plan. So I can ditch them after that.
Will let you know.
Email me if you need any help with getting your site up and running. Godaddy do actually have a 30 day money back guarantee. The terms are buried deep inside this page http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/agreements.asp.
I am not hawking for their business but I can set up your website for you install WebCards and get your site up and running and working fine for less than what Godaddy is charging you. Just email me and we can discuss it.
If not, good luck with Godaddy and let me know if I can be of service.
We should talk.
GoDaddy's legal language, as far as I can tell, says two things: you get that refund you mentioned if GoDaddy cancels you; in the "Terms of Agreement" section, it does say "the term of this Agreement shall continue in full force and effect as long as You take advantage of and use the Software or Services."
I haven't used anything yet.
All I've done so far is filled out the initial online interview and downloaded all but one file they'd need. Haven't hit "done."
But here's the biggie: I got the following message e-mailed to me today after I left them a few more probing messages:
"Thank you for the content you have submitted so far. To answer your questions, if you need to use a software that requires MySQL database functionality, we would not be able to build your site. We are using our website builder called Website Tonight which is in a shared hosting environment, but is not the same as our Linux Shared Hosting accounts. If you just have a little snippet of javascript to give us, we can embed that into your site, but you will not have access to databases or be able to install software onto your hosting."
"You can have a Contact Us page where people can email you their comments, then you could add them to the site. If you have any questions, please leave us a message in the Design Manager or contact us at 480-366-3336."
In other words, as I read this, they're saying -- in writing -- that they can't build my site. Which would seem to require a refund.
(FYI: I also asked about downloading software from http://www.intensedebate.com, which is a fabulous way of letting readers comment on individual stories. Among other sites that use it: http://www.breitbart.com.)
I believe you have my home e-mail at least from when I registered. Feel like continuing this discussion?
Thanks.
