Downloading WebCards

WebCards can be downloaded from the WebCards website.

Most WebCards releases come packaged in the popular zip format. These archives require software to un-zip them. We recommend that you use 7-zip, an open-source archive program that is compatible with zip files.
The program can be downloaded free of charge from the 7-Zip website.

Extracting the Archive

You should open up the 7-Zip File Manager and navigate to where you downloaded the WebCards archive. Highlight the WebCards folder and click the "extract" button. It is highlighted on the diagram below.

Select a folder to extract the archive to and click "OK." The extraction progress will show until the operation is complete.

Ensure that the "Use folder names" box is checked in order to maintain the folder structure.

Choose where you want to unzip the contents and click extract.

After the extraction process has occurred, you can navigate to the folder you extracted the archive into. In Windows XP the folder looks like this. However, please note that the exact contents of each archive will change from version to version.

You can see full usage instructions for 7-Zip at the 7-Zip website.

The first thing you should do after extraction is to look at the readme.html file. It contains up-to-the-minute information about the release. The file whatsnew.txt lists all the new features and bug fixes of this release.

You will also notice 2 folders within the main WebCards folder. The upgrade folder contains the necessary files and information to upgrade your current WebCards installation to the one you have just downloaded. The upload folder contains the data and files to install WebCards. If you are upgrading you must read the index.html file within the upgrade folder. It contains the latest information that is not in this manual. The upgrade instructions are immediately below and the new installation instructions are beneath that.
